An army major and a sepoy were martyred in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Mastung, Balochistan, according to a statement released Thursday by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). In separate incidents in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), two other law enforcement personnel also lost their lives in terrorist attacks.
ISPR confirmed that Major Zeeyyad Salim Awal, 31, from Khushab, bravely led his troops and was martyred along with 22-year-old Sepoy Nazam Hussain from Jhelum. The operation resulted in the elimination of three terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy group "Fitna al Hindustan."
The statement highlighted that security forces effectively targeted the terrorists' hideout, killing all three. A clearance operation is currently underway to ensure no other Indian-backed militants remain in the area. ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to eradicating terrorism and emphasized that such sacrifices only strengthen national resolve.
In separate incidents in K-P, Lance Naik Zafar from Kohat’s Kamar Dhand village was killed in a sniper attack. Additionally, one Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was martyred and two others injured in a militant assault on their vehicle in Bannu. Police engaged the attackers and reportedly injured one terrorist, who was later taken away by accomplices. A pistol and magazine were recovered, and a search operation was launched.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the military for the successful operation in Mastung and paid tribute to the martyred officers for their courage and sacrifice. He offered prayers for their families and stated that their bravery had set a new standard. He vowed that the mission to eliminate Indian-backed terrorism would continue, with the nation fully supporting the armed forces.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed deep condolences and honored the martyrs for their heroism. He lauded Major Zeeyyad and Sepoy Nazam for their selfless devotion and noted their sacrifice would never be forgotten. The minister emphasized that these acts of valor uphold the nation’s security and stability and pledged continued efforts to eradicate terrorism from the country.
